Hi, I'm Emily. Birth photographer, videographer, doula, sourdough baker, chicken mom, and the person you're going to want in your birth room.

I didn't plan on becoming a birth photographer. Honestly, I stumbled into it, and when I walked into my first birth, picked up my camera, and I’ve never looked back.

That was seven years ago. Close to 200 births later, across three states, in hospital rooms and living rooms and birth centers and backseats of cars — I am still just as in awe as I was the very first time. That never goes away. I don't ever want it to.

What Birth Means to Me

I photograph birth because it is the most honest thing I know.

There is no performance in a birth room. No pretending. No filtered version of yourself. Just you, completely real, doing the most extraordinary thing a human being can do. And I get to be there for it. I get to witness the exact moment someone becomes a parent, the exact second a baby takes their first breath, the exact look on a partner's face when their whole world changes.

Every single time, it takes my breath away.

I don't clean up your story. I don't make it prettier than it was or softer than it felt. I honor it exactly as it unfolds — the way you breathe through contractions, the way your hands shake, the way the room goes quiet right before the first cry. The tears that come from somewhere deeper than you knew existed.

Birth is art. Raw, unfiltered, breathtaking art. And I treat it that way every single time.

Who I Am in That Room

Having me at your birth feels less like having a photographer and more like having a friend who happens to be really good at their job. Someone who knows when to crack a joke and when to just be quiet. Someone who blends into the room so naturally you'll forget the camera is even there — until you get your gallery back and realize nothing was missed.

I just really love being there. That's the simplest way I know how to say it.

Life Outside of Work

When I'm not documenting births, you'll find me in Mount Dora, Florida, where my husband and I just bought our first home and are slowly making it ours.

We have a small garden that is exactly the right size for the two of us. Five chickens — Melody, Lyric, Baseline, Tempo, and Harmony — who are deeply opinionated and completely unbothered by everything. And two cats, Frederick and Kitkat, our “boys”, who act like they own the place. Honestly, they probably do.

We moved here from Oregon in 2023 to be closer to family, and it turns out Central Florida feels a lot more like home than we expected.

I bake sourdough from scratch. I grow wildflowers just because they make me happy. I try to cook as much as I can from scratch, and I believe deeply that there is something sacred about making things with your hands. We are also dreaming about the day we add a little one to this little home of ours.

I tell you all of this because I think it matters who you let into your birth room. And I want you actually to know me — not just my credentials.

THE CREDENTIALS

(because they matter too)

Seven years. Close to 200 births. Award-winning. Published. Certified birth photographer with Birth Becomes You, and fully accredited with the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers. Certified birth doula. And completely obsessed with this work.

I am not just someone with a camera who shows up and hopes for the best. I have spent seven years learning exactly how to move through a birth space, exactly what to look for, and exactly how to tell your story in a way that will take your breath away every single time you look at it.

Choosing your birth photographer is one of the most personal decisions you'll make during your pregnancy. You're not just hiring someone with a camera. You're inviting a person into one of the most vulnerable, powerful, sacred moments of your life. That deserves more than a Google search and a price comparison.

I hope this page gave you a real sense of who I am — not just what I do. And if what you found here made you feel even a little bit like we'd get along, I'd love to find out. Book a free consultation call, and let's chat about your birth plan, your vision, and your hopes for us working together.

I keep my calendar small on purpose — every family I work with deserves my complete presence. If your due date is coming up, reach out soon.
