CENTRAL FL & ORLANDO DOULA SERVICES

More room to be in your birth

That is what doula support is for. Someone else is paying attention to what is happening while you stay with the work of giving birth.

Before labor, we talk through your options and what matters to you. During labor, I offer hands-on support, help your partner stay involved, and help you make decisions as they come up. If the plan changes, we work with what is in front of us.

You do not need to have every answer before we begin. You need someone who listens when you tell them what you need.

What a doula does

A doula is not a medical provider. I do not perform cervical checks, monitor fetal heart rate, catch babies, or give medical advice. Your midwife or physician handles those parts of care.

My role is to stay with you.

I offer hands-on support and help you make sense of what is happening as it happens. That may mean counterpressure, helping you change positions, bringing water, or remembering what you told me months earlier about the kind of care you wanted.

I support your partner, too. Birth asks a lot of the person beside you, especially when they have never been in this situation before. I can show them how to support you without taking over and help them stay present instead of trying to manage everything alone.

How photography and doula support fit together

Photography and doula support can be separate services. They can also come from the same person when that feels right for your family.

When I am both, our relationship begins before labor. I know your preferences, the people you want around you, and the kind of support you are looking for. When you need hands-on care, I put the camera down. When you are settled, I return to photographing what is happening.

If you prefer to have a separate doula, that is also an option. I work with doulas throughout Central Florida and can share referrals.

What is included

  • Two prenatal visits, up to 90 minutes each, in your home when possible

  • Support preparing and reviewing your birth preferences

  • Phone and text access from booking through two weeks postpartum

  • Continuous in-person support from active labor through one to two hours after birth

  • Early feeding support, with a referral to an IBCLC if needed

  • One postpartum visit within the first two weeks

If your birth changes course

Birth may take a different route than planned. An induction, epidural, transfer, or cesarean does not change the kind of support I offer.

I stay with you, help you understand what is happening, and help you keep asking questions when you are tired. Whether you are at home, in a hospital, or in a birth center, my role is not tied to a particular outcome. It is to support you through the birth you are having.

Availability

I take on one to two doula clients each month alongside my photography births. Keeping the number small allows me to stay available for each due date and give each family the attention this work requires.

  • “She is truly there for YOU, without dogma.”

“You’d be hard-pressed to find another doula like Emily … She supported me from start to finish throughout my entire perinatal experience—listening to my wants, needs, and fears. Labor is work, and she was at my side every step of the way. Emily works from the heart with a wisdom I’ve seen in a rare few. You can feel it.” - Lindsey, First Time Mom
