When Birth Plans Change | Frank Breech C-Section
Sometimes babies have their own plans, their own wisdom about how they want to enter the world. Anavayah's story began as many do - with dreams of a peaceful home birth, with preparations made and birth pools ready. But this little one had different ideas.
During late pregnancy, ultrasounds revealed what midwives' hands had suspected - Anavayah was in a frank breech position, sitting bottom-down with feet tucked up by their head. While some breech babies turn, this little one settled deeper into their chosen position, comfortable and content.
Birth plans shifted. Instead of home birth preparations, there were conversations about surgical birth. Instead of waiting for spontaneous labor, a date was chosen. But even then, Anavayah had one more surprise in store - deciding that their birthday shouldn't wait for scheduled dates.
When waters released spontaneously, plans shifted again. Not a scheduled morning surgery, but a middle-of-the-night journey to the hospital. Through it all, this mama showed incredible grace. She understood that sometimes the safest path to meeting your baby looks different than imagined.
In the operating room, under bright lights that would illuminate their first meeting, surgery became a sacred space. Each careful step of the surgical team brought them closer to that beautiful moment when Anavayah would finally be earthside.
The first cry. The first touch. The first time mama's eyes met her baby's. These moments are no less magical, no less powerful, no less worthy of documentation because they happened in an operating room instead of at home.
