Lakeside Sunrise Maternity Session
The stars were still out when we met in the dark. Most people don't understand why maternity photographers suggest sunrise sessions, but there's a kind of magic that happens when dawn breaks over water.
"It's freezing!" Alysa gasped as the water touched her feet. But she stepped in anyway - this mama who had already overcome so much during her pregnancy, wasn't about to let cold water stop her now. The sky slowly lit up, I saw more than just a beautiful mama. I saw strength. The kind that gets you through difficult nights. The kind that brings you to a cold lake before sunrise. The kind that keeps you going when pregnancy throws its hardest challenges your way.
As the sun finally crested the horizon, tears mixed with water drops on her cheeks. Some moments just hit differently as a photographer - when the light and the emotion and the story all come together in perfect harmony.
To Alysa - thank you for trusting me with your vulnerability, for braving the cold, for showing me what courage looks like at dawn.
